Laal Singh Chadha director Advait Chandan made his directorial debut in 2017 with the movie Secret Superstar. It stars Aamir Khan. At the 2017 Zee Cine Awards, he received nominations in the “Best Director” and “Best Writer” categories and took home the prize for “Most Promising Director.”
Advait served as the assistant production manager in Aamir’s movie Taare Zameen Par, and the two later worked together on Dhobi Ghat, Kiran Rao’s first film as a director. Advait oversaw post-production and served as casting director.
After their last project, Laal Singh Chaddha, the actor-producer and director split up. Although it’s unclear exactly what happened between them, sources say Aamir might not work with Advait again. Given that the director has been connected to the actor’s production company for more than 15 years, starting as an assistant production manager on Taare Zameen Par, this is shocking (2007). Aamir’s manager for more than four years, Advait then worked on Kiran Rao’s Dhobi Ghat (2010) before making his debut as a filmmaker with Secret Superstar (2017).
