“Terrifier 2” is garnering attention and profit because of its enduring reputation as a horrifyingly graphic horror film. There are numerous accounts of audience members puking up and losing consciousness. That sounds like fun! It’s a terrific marketing gimmick, if nothing else. One of the movie’s producers amplified the fright level, effectively daring viewers to see it. Isn’t that clever?
The movie, a follow-up to 2016’s “Terrifier,” is about the undead Art the Clown, who returns to the places where he committed his atrocities to hunt down a young woman and her younger brother. Jenna Kanell, Samantha Scaffidi, and David Howard Thornton have major parts in the movie. The original movie told the tale of Tara Heyes, a horrible killer dressed as a black-and-white clown who becomes Art the Clown’s cruel obsession.

Terrifier 2 was made available on October 6. One of its executive producers, Steve Barton, tweeted this caution on October 10, “This movie contains scenes of graphic violence and brutal depictions of horror,” Barton wrote. “Viewers who are faint of heart, prone to lightheadedness or have weak stomachs are advised to take extreme caution. There have already been numerous instances of fainting and vomiting in theatres. For those choosing to continue, you’ve been warned.”
