Re-Release Of Avatar To Take Full Benefit Of National Cinema Day With Fab Day One At Box Office

James Cameron, the director behind Avatar, says that the film should be watched in cinemas only, and people who have watched it at home on their TV screens “really haven’t seen it.” Avatar’s remastered version is set to re-release in cinemas worldwide, including India, on September 23, 2022.

For those who don’t know, Avatar’s sequel, Avatar: The Way Of Water is scheduled to release on 16th December in theatres. Before this, the makers decided to re-release the prequel this month in a remastered 4K version. This move is definitely going to help in building hype for part 2. Interestingly, it has found itself in a perfect occasion for the re-arrival in India.

As per the trade reports flowing, Avatar has opened to a solid response at ticket windows considering Friday is National Cinema Day. On this day, the tickets are priced at 75 rupees each (2D and normal 3D) and 150-200 rupees (IMAX 3D and 4D). With such an affordable rate, people are showing their interest in grabbing tickets.

On National Cinema Day in India – that is Friday, September 23 – Avatar will re-release in theatres across the country. The film is seeing a good response from Indian moviegoers, as box office reports suggest the movie has already made 43 lakh rupees in advance booking for the first day. On National Cinema Day, 2D and 3D movie tickets are priced at 75 rupees with IMAX 3D and 4D tickets going for 150 and 200 rupees respectively, so the cheap ticket rates contribute to the numbers.

After the re-release, Cameron’s Avatar franchise will kick off with multiple sequels on the way. However, the director has stated that he might not be the one to direct the final two instalments of the series. The next film in the series, Avatar: The Way of Water, will be released in India on December 16.
