Highlight of its most recent content schedule unveiled at the D23 expo is another agreement Bollywood director, producer, and talkshow presenter Karan Johar has signed with Indian streaming service Disney+ Hotstar.
Season eight of the chat show Koffee with Karan and the drama series Showtime are included in collaboration with Johar.
Since 2004, Koffee with Karan has aired, first on Star World India and currently on Disney+ Hotstar. It is produced by Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Aneesha Baig and comes from Johar’s Dharmatic Entertainment. The show includes games, a hot rapid-fire round, and well-known Indian celebrities as guests.
Showtime, on the other hand, is produced by Johar, Mehta, and Somen Mishra and also originates from Dharmatic. The show depicts the power struggles and off-camera altercations taking place in Bollywood’s backstage areas. A deep, raw, unvarnished, and unfettered look into the battle lines that are drawn and crossed to keep the camera rolling and the audiences applauding, according to the synopsis.
Karan Johar said: “I am excited to associate with Disney+ Hotstar for our new collaboration, announced at the prestigious D23 Expo. In addition to yet another exciting season of my beloved show Koffee With Karan, I’m happy to announce an all-new Dharma Production series, Showtime, which will lift the curtain on India’s entertainment industry’s biggest trade secrets.”
