The much -awaited cricket Asia Cup is set to start on 27th August in UAE. It was earlier scheduled to happen in Sri Lanka but later shifted due to on going political crisis in Sri Lanka.
This tournament is highly anticipated as it is test for teams before much awaited T 20 cricket World Cup set to happen in Australia in October later this year. On top of that this Asia Cup will see arch rival India and Pakistan facing each other not once, not twice but probably three times within span of 14 days which will be treat for fans around the world.
But this is again a bad news for Bollywood as two much awaited films – Liger and Brahmastra will release on 25th August and 9th September. India – Pakistan clashes will schedule to happen on 28th August, 4th September and probable final on 11th September.
1st match will co incide with first Sunday of Liger and final match will be first Sunday of Brahmastra. Any cricket match specially T 20 affects audience footfall in cinema but India vs Pakistan is much more than that as it will surely affect collections of crucial evening and night shows that too on Sunday.
Let’s hope both films have power of content to fight these big ticket cricket matches as film industry is anyways going through poor form at box office.
