Will you go watch the same movie every year?
That’s what the fans of DDLJ aka the glorious ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ have been doing for the past 27 years or so. Ever since its release in 1995, fans have shown up at the Maratha Mandir film theatre in Mumbai without fail to catch the matinee show at 11:30 am. The years have not dimmed their enthusiasm for this classic a bit.
Tomorrow is birthday of super star Shah Rukh Khan and internet is going mad with anticipation of Pathaan teaser. Fans have gathered in massive numbers in Mumbai to celebrate his birthday and re release of DDLJ tomorrow in multiplexes across the country has enticed fans even more.
Today fans have created hysteria at Maratha Mandir in DDLJ screening on eve of super star’s birthday.

Right from its release in 1995 to about March 2020, the film ran every day at Maratha Mandir. In March 2020 the theatres were shut due to Covid-19 restrictions. The film resumed screening in November 2020 when the Maharashtra state government permitted the theatres to open up to 50 per cent capacity.
Come rain or shine, you bet there will be a crowd of ardent ‘DDLJ’ fans showing up faithfully to see a young and dashing SRK (went on to be the face of romantic fantasies for an entire generation of youth) clad in that iconic Harley-Davidson leather jacket and stars in his eyes mouth ‘Senorita, bade bade deshon mein aisi cchoti cchoti baatein hote rehte hain’ (Senorita, little things like this happen in big countries) to a doe-eyed Kajol, just one more time.
