Today sees the release of Goodbye. The film is special since it has Amitabh Bachchan in the lead and also marks the Bollywood debut of south star Rashmika Mandanna. Amitabh Bachchan has already been seen in the biggest Bollywood grosser of 2022, Brahmastra, in a pivotal role. Prior to that he played the lead in Jhund and then was also seen in Runway 34. Now that Goodbye is arriving in theatres, one expects yet another dynamic, emotional and sensitive act from Big B in mould of Baaghbaan and Piku.
Film released in middle of limited awareness as neither the songs nor trailer had created ripples on social media. Film has tight release and expected to take a slow start on day one as Hrithik – Saif Starrer Vikram Vedha will still dominate in 2nd week.
As per early trends, film has opened to 5-10% opening across the board and even reduced pricing didn’t attract much of audience.
Film will struggle to cross 1.60-1.75 cr nett on day one and it will hover around 1.25 cr nett day one unless there is dramatic turnaround in evening.
It needs exceptional review and word of mouth to survive which seems difficult at the moment.
