Nikhil Siddhartha starrer Karthikeya 2 has been ascending at the box office amid boycott calls for Bollywood movies. The film was released on Saturday with zero marketing and only got screens due to the failure of biggies like Laal Singh Chaddha & Raksha Bandhan.
A sequel to the critically acclaimed movie ‘Karthikeya’, the second instalment of the movie surpassed the likes of Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha and Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandhan in terms of the collection over 2nd weekend.
The film started with 50 screens and 7 lacs collections on Saturday that too with zero PR & marketing. It got 250 screens and 25 lacs the second day. It collected 5.75 cr nett in week one.
Over the 2nd weekend, the film collects a huge 2.46 cr nett on Friday followed by 3.04 cr nett on Saturday. The film further added 4.07 cr nett on Sunday which takes its total to 9.57 cr nett and that is 80% higher than the entire 1st week.
Though film dropped on Monday and dropped big by 50% as it collected 0.98 cr nett. Film again jumped on Tuesday and collected 1.15 cr nett. Film added 95 lac nett on Wednesday and 89 lac nett on Thursday.
Film added 82 lacs nett on Friday despite new release Liger which is good trend. Film had 14 day total of 20.11 cr nett. Film again added 82 lacs nett on Friday followed by 100% growth on Saturday with 1.65 cr nett. Film again added 1.77 cr nett on Sunday despite big cricket match. Film had 3rd Monday of 68 lacs nett which was better than Friday. Film added 63 lac, 85 lac & 54 lac nett on Tuesday,Wednesday & Thursday respectively. Film collected 6.94 cr nett in 3rd week which is better than week one.
Film collected 51 lacs nett on 4th week Friday followed by 86 lacs nett on Saturday and 90 lacs nett on Sunday. Film collected 2.27 cr nett over 4th weekend and should collect 4 cr nett in 4th week.
Now film has total of 28.50 cr nett and it will collect 30 cr nett lifetime from here. Film will end its run once Brahmastra releases this Friday.
Film has crossed 1.5 million $ overseas which is fab feat. Film also crosses 105 cr gross worldwide with 89 cr domestic gross. It should end with 110-115 cr worldwide gross minimum from here.
