Dwayne Johnson Starrer ‘Black Adam’ Likely To Release In 1800-2K Screens As It Faces A Clash With Ajay’s ‘Thank God’ And Akshay’s ‘Ram Setu’ Coinciding Diwali

As the festival of lights gets nearer, interesting updates from the cinema world continue. Black Adam, an action-fantasy film, stars Dwayne Johnson, Sarah Shahi, Noah Centineo, Jennifer Holland. It’s directed by Jaume Collet-Serra.

Black Adam is likely to have 1800-2000 screens in the country in the original English version, including dubbed Hindi, Tamil and Telugu versions. The Warner Bros team has planned its release across the globe on October 21.

“There’s tremendous excitement for Black Adam globally as it’s a DC film. Moreover, it stars Dwayne Johnson, who has a huge following in India. What also works in its favour is that there hasn’t been a big-scale commercial Hollywood film in a long time. The last such film to release was Thor: Love And Thunder, which came out on July 8. Due to these reasons, Black Adam can score at the ticket window,” Bollywood Hungama quoted a source as saying.

In the fim, Teth Adam was provided with the almighty powers of the gods in old Kahndaq. After using these powers for revenge, he was jailed and became Black Adam. He has gone from man to myth to legend approximately 5,000 years later. Now free, his unique form of justice, born out of anger, is confronted by modern-day heroes who form the Justice Society: Hawkman, Dr. Fate, Atom Smasher and Cyclone.

“The trade in the West is confident of the film. It is expected to gross around $70 million in the opening weekend in the USA/Canada. By releasing Black Adam in the pre-Diwali period, the Warner team in India hopes to build on the word of mouth so that the audiences turn up to the cinemas in hordes from October 25. Of course, it is expected to lose 400-500 screens thanks to Ram Setu, Thank God and the Southern releases. Multiplexes will also reduce some shows to accommodate the Hindi releases. Yet, it’ll be more than enough to put up a good number at the box office, provided the word of mouth is positive,” the source added.

Considering Akshay Kumar starrer Ram Setu will dominate with Rs 20 cr on opening day and Thank God starring Ajay Devgn will have a decent performance at box-office with 10 cr + opening, Dwayne Johnson will have to struggle post its release with Rs 2-3 cr as DC doesn’t enjoy the same fan following as Marvel fans in India.
