The Cuttputlli trailer, starring Akshay Kumar, was released earlier this week. The film, which is directed by Ranjit M. Tewari, tells the tale of a serial murderer who preys on young girls. The movie is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ Hotstar in September, despite the varied reactions to the trailer, especially given that it is rumored to be a remake of the South film Ratsasan. But before it launches on the OTT platform, an online portal learned that Cuttputlli was purchased by Disney+ Hotstar for a staggering Rs. 125 crore.
“Akshay Kumar’s recent releases have been going through a bit of turmoil at the box office. However, with Cuttputlli the makers had decided to go the OTT way and Disney+ Hotstar has acquired the film”, confirms a source to Bollywood Hungama. Further talking about the amount, the OTT platform spent on this acquisition the source informed the portal, “Yes, the digital streaming rights were sold for Rs. 125 crores to Disney+ Hotstar. Given the current scenario, it is a bonanza for the makers.”
About Cuttputlli, it is produced by Pooja Entertainment and stars Rakul Preet Singh and Akshay Kumar. Ranjit M. Tewari is the director. On September 2, 2022, Disney+ Hotstar will premiere Cuttputlli.
