Mumbai Police’s crime branch arrested Akshat Raj Saluja, another person associated with this syndicate, after the arrest of Rajat Maurya and Sanjay Saha, who had paid lakhs to producer Man Singh in the name of getting the film cleared on OTT Disney + Hotstar. Akshat Raj Saluja, screenwriter of the film ‘Rashtra kavach Om’, webseries ‘Shiksha Mandal’ and ‘Yaargi’ and associate producer of Ayushmann Khurrana starrer ‘Dream Girl’, is the third accused to be arrested in this case. In this case, Mumbai Police is still searching for Radhika Nanda and other suspects.
When producer, Maan Singh, complained, this issue came to light. He ran upon Rajat Kumar Mourya, who offered to assist him in marketing his movie on OTT services. Additionally, he said that he will levy Rs. 10 lakhs for each digitally distributed film. Maan Singh was reportedly not the only victim of this gang’s deception. They also targeted Aankhen (2002) producer Gaurang Doshi and actor Vivek Oberoi. According to Hindustan Times, both have reported the other for cheating.
In this story, Gaurang Doshi said that he felt “foolish” for discovering the deception after a year. Additionally, he disclosed that Vivek Oberoi was the one who had introduced him to the group. Vivek Oberoi was defrauded of Rs. 2-3 crores and Gaurang Doshi lost rupees. Finally, Gaurang Doshi claimed that in order to steal money, the gang members used names of actors like Shah Rukh Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
