Last week saw the release of Goodbye. The film is special since it has Amitabh Bachchan in the lead and also marks the Bollywood debut of south star Rashmika Mandanna. Amitabh Bachchan has already been seen in the biggest Bollywood grosser of 2022, Brahmastra, in a pivotal role. Prior to that he played the lead in Jhund and then was also saw him in Runway 34.
Film released in middle of limited awareness as neither the songs nor trailer had created ripples on social media. Film had tight release and expected to take a slow start on day one as Hrithik – Saif Starrer Vikram Vedha continued to dominate in 2nd week. And that’s what happened!
Film struggled to cross 1 cr nett on day one and despite 50% jump on Saturday, it managed 1.40 cr nett after 90 lacs nett Friday. Film had slim growth on Sunday and collected 1.55 cr nett.
It needed exceptional review and word of mouth to survive which wasn’t there. Film collected 3.85 cr nett in 1st weekend.
Film added 1.60 cr nett on weekdays. Film has total of 5.45 cr nett after week one and it will finish with 7 cr nett lifetime at best as it will be out of cinemas soon. Disaster!
