Akshay Kumar starrer Raksha Bandhan was never to score in multiplexes as subject seems too dated and treatment felt cliche. On top of that clash with Aamir Khan starrer Laal Singh Chaddha made it split its earning by at least 25%.
Film didn’t open well and then it failed to grow on day one. Film collected poor 8.20 cr nett on day one which was actor’s lowest opener of year behind Bachchan Pandey and Samrat Prithviraj. Film received mixed reviews and urban markets were always suppose to be repulsive for this so growth didn’t happen despite poor day one.
Film collected 6.40 cr nett on day two which was drop of 23%. Film was expected to jump big today as holiday affect has kicked in but film failed to do so. As per early trends, film should collect 6.51 cr nett which is still poor.
Film again remained flat on Sunday and didn’t spring any surprise. Film managed below par 7.05 cr nett. Film again dropped on Monday and Tuesday which is shocking, it collected 6.31 and 1.60 cr nett. Even on Wednesday and Thursday, the film could not maintain its stability and collected only 1.35 cr and 1.20 cr nett.
Film has 8 – day total of 38.62 cr nett which is flop. Film needs to hold tomorrow for any chance of decent lifetime total depending on trending in 2nd week.
Film was very poor in overseas market and will find it tough for decent lifetime total over there.
