Many films release on Wednesday and Thursday but Tuesday one is extremely rare as seen in this case. Do you remember the last time it happened? Son Of Sardaar was released in cinemas on Tuesday, November 13 and clashed with Jab Tak Hai Jaan starring Shah Rukh Khan.
This is because the makers believe not many viewers will arrive to watch it on Diwali as many are occupied with Laxmi Puja. “The filmmakers feared that if their film gets bad word of mouth on Diwali, it will prevent audiences from coming in full force the next day. Hence, it was decided to release the films on post Diwali day,” a source told Bollywood Hungama.
It’s important to note that films like Happy New Year (2014), Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo (2015), Golmaal Again (2017), Thugs Of Hindostan (2018) and Sooryavanshi (2021) were released a day after Diwali.
The collections from the 2013 Diwali release were fine in the opening weekend and went on next level only starting day 4 onwards. Time will tell whether Ram Setu starring Akshay Kumar will be released on October 25, Tuesday.
“Hence, it makes sense for a big film like Thank God to release on a Tuesday. Had it been released on a Friday, it would have faced four days of limited collections since Diwali this year falls on a Monday,” an industry expert was quoted as saying.
Meanwhile, Ajay took to Twitter to share the first poster of the film. He said, “This Diwali, Chitragupt is coming to play the game of life with you and your family! #ThankGod trailer out tomorrow. In cinemas on October 25.”
